Skate Bounty LLC ("Skate Bounty", "we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Skate Bounty mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account Information: name, email address, username, date of birth, profile photo, and password hash when you register. Your date of birth is collected solely to verify that you meet our 18+ age requirement.
  • Profile Data: bio, skating style, and any other information you voluntarily provide in your profile.
  • Location Data: GPS coordinates or address information you provide when creating or browsing skate spots, or (with your permission) your device's real-time location.
  • User Content: photos, videos, Instagram links, bounty descriptions, and claim submissions you upload or post.
  • Payment Information: billing details and payout account information processed through Stripe. We do not store full card numbers; Stripe handles all payment data.
  • Usage Data: IP address, device identifiers, operating system, browser type, pages visited, features used, and interaction timestamps.
  • Communications: messages you send to our support team.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account and authenticate your identity.
  • Enable posting, discovery, and fulfillment of bounties and skate spots.
  • Process payments and payouts via Stripe.
  • Personalize your experience and surface relevant content.
  • Send transactional and service-related notifications.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.
  • Comply with legal obligations.
  • Improve, analyze, and develop the Service.
  • Communicate updates, security alerts, and support responses.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: with trusted vendors who assist us in operating the Service (e.g., Supabase for database and authentication, Stripe for payments and payouts, Google for mapping services). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only as directed.
  • Other Users: your username, profile photo, public bounties, and submitted clips are visible to other users of the Service as part of its core functionality.
  • Legal Requirements: if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Skate Bounty, our users, or the public.
  • Business Transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  • With Your Consent: for any other purpose with your explicit consent.

5. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party platforms whose privacy practices are governed by their own policies:

  • Supabase (database & auth) — supabase.com/privacy
  • Stripe (payments & Connect payouts) — stripe.com/privacy
  • Google Maps Platform (mapping & autocomplete) — policies.google.com/privacy
  • Instagram / Meta (claim verification links) — privacycenter.instagram.com

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their policies.

6. Location Information

We collect location data you explicitly provide (e.g., skate spot addresses or coordinates). On supported devices, we may request permission to access your device's precise or approximate location to assist in spot discovery. You can revoke location permission at any time through your device settings. Disabling location access may limit certain features of the Service.

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

The Service is restricted to adults: you must be at least 18 years old to create an account, and we verify this with a date-of-birth check at signup. The Service is not directed to minors, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a minor, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@skatebounty.com.

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encrypted data transmission (TLS), row-level security in our database, and access controls for internal systems. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention or financial record-keeping.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion: request deletion of your personal data, subject to certain legal exceptions.
  • Portability: request a machine-readable export of your data.
  • Objection / Restriction: object to or request restriction of certain processing activities.
  • Withdraw Consent: where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@skatebounty.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to Know: the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, the purposes for collection, and with whom it is shared.
  • Right to Delete: request deletion of your personal information, subject to exceptions.
  • Right to Correct: request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing: we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

To submit a verifiable consumer request, contact privacy@skatebounty.com.

12. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers. We implement appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for cross-border transfers where required by applicable law.

13. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The mobile application does not use browser cookies. We may use device identifiers and analytics SDKs to understand usage patterns and improve the Service. You may be able to limit certain tracking through your device's privacy settings. Our web-based components may use session cookies strictly necessary for functionality.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect, where practicable.
